HISTORY ========== 04-13-2005 Version 1.0 (It's... complete? I think) =============== 2. INTRODUCTION =============== This isn't a full FAQ but rather programming quirks and other abuses you can take advantage if you want to win the game but don't want to use the cheat mode. Of course, whether these methods are cheating or not is debatable I guess. This is for the English Beta version of PM2. All tricks within might or might not work on other versions of PM2. ======= 3. TIPS ======= --------------------------- No Fights While Adventuring --------------------------- The trigger to get a fight is checked when it changes from day to night, this happens in real-time intervals rather than number of steps taken unlike most RPG systems. However, if you choose to camp right before that happens, You can skip right to the next day and avoid the fights. While sending your defenseless daughter to adventure is generally a bad idea, with this trick you have some possibility for abuse, such as grabbing the items right at the start of the game, selling them and using the money to enroll your daughter in some tuition courses. ------------------- Free Stress Removal ------------------- In the Forest or Lake section, there are locations where you can camp in and have a cutscene with some fairies. You'll need to have a decent Sensitivity for them to show up. The Forest fairies are located in the southeastern part (bunch of dead trees) and a Sun Dial-like structure somewhere above that. One fairy raises Cooking while the other raises Art but decreases Constitution. The Lake fairies are in the most southwestern and southeastern islands. Classified as an "abuse" because not only does this completely remove stress but also raises your stats. The only other stress removal that can rival this are summer vacations (reduces weight, which is pretty hard to do) Combined with the above tip to avoid fights you can start doing this from the start of the game. ----------------- Free Morality Bug ----------------- An event in the Desert allows you to trade the "Circe Charm", an item that can be bought from the travelling merchant for higher stats, at the cost of reducing your Morality to 0. However, if you wear a Morality reducing item, most commonly the Spiked Dress, as the other item, the Demon Dress is a very rare item drop from Demons (if you can kill them at all, since they usually run), your stats will actually be increased! Not a very useful trick since you want to do this early in the game while your morality is still low and probably have better things to buy than the spiked dress, but still a bug. ------------------------------ Raise Fighter/Magic Reputation ------------------------------ If you need lots of fighter/magic reputation, once you have a decent amount, repeatedly enter and exit town. Soon you'll be challenged and can defeat them for 10 rep each. You can keep repeating this until you're satisfied. Uses for this trick includes getting endings and getting Valkyria special sword early, either for use or for gold (by selling). Classified as an abuse because this takes up no game-time at all. Apparently the town section is in some kind of time flux vortex. ---------------- Rake up the Gold ---------------- Once your daughter can fight decently, the Desert area is a VERY good place to earn gold. Specifically, near the cave area are Harpies, Skeletons and Demons, who drop considerably more gold than any other monster. Unlike most monsters, they drop enough gold to pay off their Sin by donating at the church. One adventure worth of the Desert can earn you thousands of gold and doesn't increment stress at all! After you get mucho money, you can pay for lots of training for stat gains and all that. ---------------------- Free Gold From Dragon? ---------------------- Not quite an abuse, but after receiving the dowry (well, more like bribe) from the Dragon Grandpa as a promise to marry the Dragon Youth, you don't ALWAYS marry him. Specifically, if you're on track for any other marriage endings, they almost always take priority over the Dragon Youth. Sort of odd, "Hey thanks for your gold, I'll... uh think about it." Since this is the easiest special ending, and a sort of cop-out in terms of morals and all, I wonder why it takes the least priority. ------------------- Misc Charisma Stuff ------------------- - Charisma doesn't affect prices at stores. Popularity does. - The gold Dragon Grandpa gives you is equal to your Charisma ------------ Contact info ------------ You can e-mail me at Davzz@magix.com.sg if you have anything to add to the faq.
